Hybrid Converter for Quarter Brick Power Supply - Blog
May 27, 2025Converting 54 V to a suitable 12 V is a challenging task that requires a new converter topology to develop an improved, high-performance power supply. Additionally, it must have small dimensions to fit into the latest data center and hyperscale architecture, making a quarter brick small form factor highly desirable. This article will explore how to address key concerns such as efficiency, power loss, thermal dissipation, and common footprint design. It will also discuss how these factors can impact system applications.

Passing EMI Compliance Testing the First Time—Part 1: The Physics - Blog
May 07, 2025Any product designed today that requires high-speed clocks can be troubled with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) compliance issues. This article outlines an electromagnetic (EM) field-oriented perspective for printed circuit board (PCB) design intended to help the reader pass electromagnetic interference (EMI) compliance testing the first time
Power Techniques of TFT LCD, OLED, and Micro-LED Automotive Displays - Blog
April 22, 2025In the automotive display system, TFT LCD displays dominate in the automotive display panel. Furthermore, OLED and micro-LED displays are drawing more and more attention in the market. The power techniques need to be developed for different display technologies. The edge-lit backlight and direct-lit backlight are commonly used in TFT LCD displays. The local dimming based on the direct-lit backlight with mini-LEDs is developed for improving the display performance. Although OLED displays are more common in smartphones, the automotive OLED and micro-LED displays are still in development. This article comprehensively describes the automotive display system and the power techniques.
Integrated SoC Shrinks the Size of the 4-20 mA Smart Transmitter - Blog
February 18, 2025Smart transmitters can normalize gain and offset, linearize the sensor by converting its analog signal to digital, process the signals with arithmetic algorithms resident in the microcontroller, convert back to analog, and transmit the result as a standard current along the loop. They also add the capability for digital communications, which share the twisted-pair line with the 4-20 mA signal. The resulting communication channel allows for transmission control and diagnostic signals along with the sensor data. The SoC that integrates AFE, microcontroller, HART®, and 4-20 mA transmitter technology allows for the small size of the 4-20 mA smart transmitter.
Read Your Brainwaves. For Real - Blog
February 03, 2025A few weeks ago, at CES, I encountered a technology that seemed too science fiction to actually work. In its simplest form, you wear a headband that contains a few sensors, and those sensors read your brain waves. That’s not really possible, or is it? Being the skeptic that I am, I told the spokespeople that I doubted their technology could work, and I moved on.
